"Hi this is Asa. I wanted to say thank you for the awesome graffiti tour. I had so much fun and learned a lot".

Asa, 11 years old, California, USA

"Thanks so much for today. Your approach to touring really worked for us and was just want we wanted (and needed) for my son. It was informative yet informal; educational, yet "hip"; and historical yet contemporary".

Alan K., California, USA

"Guy Sharett is by far the most talented Hebrew teacher I've had. With a strong sense of linguistic and urban Israeli culture, he has the unique ability to provide a solid grammatical basis without neglecting the spoken aspect of the language. Guy is the kind of teacher that will take you out on the street to talk to people, which is probably one of the most effective way to learn a language. It's a real pleasure to learn with him and to see my Hebrew skills improve after each lesson, I wish you to enjoy it as much as I do!"

Alex, Stockholm, Sweden / Tel Aviv, Israel

Sabine M., Tel Aviv, Israel / Germany

M.K., Tel Aviv, Israel / Germany

"Lieber Guy,

"The graffiti tour was fabulous. Guy is terrific with folks of all ages - my four year-old-son loved it, as did I!"

"What a great tour. It combined great and fun street art with ulpan and linguistics. It was great for all ages".

"I brought my group of first-time visitors to Israel to the Florentine neighborhood of Tel Aviv to experience a unique, and somewhat “edgy” tour with Guy Sharett. Guy is an innovative and talented teacher, whose tour of the graffiti and urban art of his neighborhood showed our group a side of Israeli life generally hidden from such visitors. I think that the participants learned more from Guy and his tour about current issues in Israeli life and culture than would ever be possible simply by reading or hearing the news, and the group loved their time with him".

Levinsky Market tour

Picture
"The Trumpeldor Cemetery Tour we took with Guy was about Israel's history and those who are buried here, but also about the Hebrew inscriptions and the Hebrew language. Guy is an amazing 'wordsmith,' and linguist; he speaks 7 languages and this tour was a Hebrew course in itself. As soon as we met, he gave us a small notebook and a pen, so we could take notes."

Sandy & Mel Wasserman, NY, USA

Picture
"After receiving a glowing recommendation about Guy's graffiti tour we booked in immediately. The bar had been set high. His work was cut out for him having to appeal to children aged 7 and 11 and their middle aged parents! We were introduced to streets in Tel Aviv not previously visited and encouraged to view signs and graffiti that would otherwise have gone unnoticed. Guy was thoroughly engaging describing background and historical tidbits. If you're after something unique and lots of fun look no further!"

Liora, Melbourne, Australia

Picture
"This was, by far, the best touring experience I have had in all my travels. A combination of language, culture and history lesson by a man with a rare combination of wisdom and personality. My only regret was that it was not a longer tour: he should have day rates!"

Nechama Karman, Great Neck, NY, USA

Picture
"Absolutely loved Guy's "Graffiti Tour". Even though my wife and I speak no Hebrew, it was a very interesting and enjoyable.  Guy has a great local knowledge and an easy-to-understand delivery! Next time we are sure to try one of his other tours".

Mark Massery, Chicago, IL, USA

Picture
"Take a look at some of the street art we saw, ranging from poetry and Israeli icons, to commentary on the treatment of women in religious society. And what hipster neighborhood would be without a mustache or two. Check it out and I strongly recommend taking this tour. I’d do it again!"

Natalie Amar, Montreal, Canada

Picture
"I learned so many new Hebrew words on Guy's tour of Trumpeldor Cemetery, and his fascinating recounting of the history behind the gravestones taught me so much about the city and helped contextualize new words and grammar. It was a welcome surprise that the tour was only three people - perfect for personalizing to each participant's level. Highly recommended!"

"The Florentin Graffiti tour was a great tour, kind of like taking a tour of a great art museum with the curator and historian of the museum, who also knows about the artists and the community. A lot of the stuff belongs in museums and is better than what you see in some museums of contemporary art".

Rob, Michigan, USA / Israel

Picture
"This was a great way to both learn some colloquial Hebrew and the history of a fascinating area. Guy is a font of knowledge and explains the history and development of the language in an easy to understand way. Try it, you won't regret it".

Paul, UK

Picture
"It was a brilliantly essential experience for anyone who is seeking a look into the underground culture of modern Tel Aviv. The best part is that you learn some Hebrew grammar and vocabulary along the way. Guy's language teaching style is fluid and intuitive and his knowledge of the neighborhood is classic".

Kevin D., USA / Israel

Picture
"Guy's tour/Hebrew lesson combo is so unique. Participants walk away with improved Hebrew and a greater understanding of Israeli culture and history. His enthusiasm keeps everyone smiling and his ability to quickly assess each person's Hebrew level, aids in creating a cohesive group. Learning Hebrew while on the go with Guy is a fantastic experience and highly recommended. Thanks Guy!"

Janis Raisen, Tel Aviv

Laetitia F., Paris, France / Tel Aviv, Israel

"I love StreetWise Hebrew. Guy Sharett teaches Hebrew in the streets of Tel Aviv, so the city itself becomes his classroom. Guy uses graffiti, street signs, and even manhole covers as his chalkboard. Much recommended!"

Britta K., Berlin, Germany

"I enjoyed our hour together... It was a good way to reinforce what I know and add a bit of Hebrew. I especially enjoyed the background info on cultural meanings and slang that would be lost to me in just reading the message literally. I'll be joining you for another lesson."

"Thank you for an invigorating Friday morning. Your graffiti tour was both educational and entertaining. In addition to brushing up on my Hebrew, I thoroughly enjoyed my introduction to Tel Aviv's best known graffiti artists, plus I got to see a side to the city that I had never been exposed to. Highly recommended to everyone regardless of their level of Hebrew."

Lisa B., Johannesburg, South Africa / Tel Aviv, Israel

"Thanks for making this city a little less bewildering with explanations in Hebrew, Biblical and modern, and English, of Florentine. Glimpsed Mount Roshmore with its heads of State, ubiquitous EggPlant Kid's artwork and copies thereof and manhole covers, pre-State and otherwise. I Picked up more words in Hebrew and even Arabic painlessly."

Lynn Poritz, Tel Aviv, Israel

"I had spent a lot of time in Florentin before, but had never noticed or realised what rich stories are behind all of the graffiti. I now see the area in a new light! Highly recommended."

Marina Vasconcelos, Lisbon, Portugal

"We thoroughly enjoyed our sessions with Guy
Sharett. Guy is a great teacher, a linguist and has a keen sense of what's going on politically and culturally in Tel Aviv and Israel. His tours are a wonderful, alternative way to learn Hebrew and practice speaking while finding out what's going b'aretz. And if speaking Hebrew isn't your thing, try his tours in English. Either way, you have a really nice time."

David Greenberg & Abby Everett, New York City, USA

"The Graffiti Tour gave us a wonderful way to see parts of Tel Aviv that we otherwise would not have seen. The tour also provided an interesting vantage of Israeli culture and language."

Kenza, Morocco

Picture
"The tour was awesome. Guy treats the streets of Tel Aviv as a living, breathing classroom. We walked the Levinsky spice market as Guy shared his deep knowledge of Hebrew (history, connections between words, etymology, etc.) in a practical, fun way, using street signs and a portable whiteboard. A unique experience, worth every shekel - Just come!"

GS, Sydney, Australia

Picture
"Loved the tour of the Spice Market. Brilliant concept for anyone who is fascinated by cities and the dynamics of neighbourhoods. And we went away with some useful words and phrases as well. Amazing what you can learn even from the intricate details in the sidewalks. Looking forward to the next tour, and can recommend them to anyone who is new to Tel Aviv."

Eugene Ulman, Sydney, Australia

Picture
"I really enjoyed the Florentin Graffiti Tour with Guy. It was a very interesting tour of some amazing street art hidden around the back alleys of Florentin. Guy is a dynamic and knowledgeable guide with a true love of language and culture which he transmits in an engaging and fun way. I wish I could have taken all of his tours. Highly recommended!"

Maya, Montreal, Canada

Picture
"Guy Sharett is able to deliver two lessons for the price of one! First of all, a tour of places that tourists don’t even know about, letting us see what real life is all about. Opening our eyes to the small details that make a difference. Secondly, and almost without knowing it, we are exposed to street Hebrew through signs, graffiti and exchanges with shop owners. There is nothing else like it! Can’t wait to get back for another dose of real Tel Aviv!"

Barry and Esther, Jerusalem, Israel

Picture
"Guy's tour was not only informative and interesting, but caused us to see things that we would have never noticed before, and gave us a real and authentic exposure of Tel Aviv's culture, the evolving Hebrew language and the changing face of Florentine. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!"

Josh Weinberg, Jerusalem

Picture
"Guy, thank you for two fantastic Hebrew lessons/ Tel Aviv tours this week. Florentin was like an urban museum that came alive as you guided us through narrow graffiti painted alleyways. The neighborhood's past and present were discovered as you helped us decipher the graffiti, as well as shop signs and even sewer covers! History and Hebrew grammar combined, what a great way to learn. In addition, meeting with a master wood carver and spending time with him discussing his work, all in Hebrew, was a highlight.
Our second tour, of the Levinsky market, was equally instructive and fascinating. My only regret was that I would have loved to have stayed there with you all day.

Anyone who wants an out of the box, fascinating and instructive Hebrew class that gives you a view of Tel Aviv most people don't see, have to take one of your classes. I'm glad I did."

Naomi, Chicago, IL, USA

Picture
"Thank you for the wonderful tour! We really enjoyed spending our mornings learning, speaking and exploring with you! I will absolutly recommend you to anyone looking for a unique and exicting tour in Tel Aviv - 'not your ordinary tourist like tour'".

Aviva, Tel Aviv, Israel

Grazie Guy e complimenti!"

Cecilia, Italy

Picture
"Guy Sharett´s tour focusing on the graffiti art and poetry of Tel Aviv´s Florentin neighborhood is an incredible introduction to this rapidly gentrifying neighborhood. Examining the shifting figurative and poetic tropes on the walls, streets, telephone boxes and doors of Florentin, Guy tells the neighborhood´s story and points out important historical and political tensions. And although ours was strictly an English language tour, he even managed to sprinkle in a bit of Hebrew grammar. The experience was a joy from start to finish and should definitely feature in any visit to Tel Aviv."

Lily, New York, USA

Picture
"We took Guy's Florentin Graffiti tour and felt it was the highlight of our stay in Tel Aviv!  Who knew there was so much interesting political and social commentary on the walls of Tel Aviv?
We learned many Hebrew words and phrases in a fun and easy way, which we will remember through association with the colorful graffiti art. We enjoyed the tour so much that we booked Guy's Trumpeldor Cemetery tour. Guy gave us a fascinating look into the history of Tel Aviv. We learned Hebrew by reading the tombstones of many of the city's founders and luminaries. It was a great privilege to walk among these giants of history and we thank Guy for giving us a look into their backgrounds. We have been to Israel many times and this is one of the most unusual and interesting tours we have ever experienced. A "must do" for anyone who wants to increase their knowledge of the Hebrew language!"

Bettina and Allen Kramer, Woodmere, NY, USA

Picture
"Thanks for the wonderful and informative tour. Guy taught many interesting words during the Graffiti tour. I learned about the political, social, and economic issues that Tel Aviv residents confront through Graffiti. Guy explained the relationship between the Graffiti and Tel Aviv very well. I certainly am interested in attending another tour, especially if you want to improve in Hebrew."

Adam Rasgon, Los Angeles, CA, USA

Picture
"I recently did one of Guy's graffiti tours in Florentine. It was an absolute treat both from the learning Hebrew perspective and from learning the cultural aspects of Israeli society. To be with someone who understands both the language and the history so well was great and I learnt tons! I can't wait for the next one!"

Tzipi Cohen, Johannesburg, South Africa

Picture
"Thank you for providing such a fun and informative tour at the Trumpeldor Cemetery! I enjoyed the way you melded Tel Aviv's history with language lessons, and managed to engage and teach students at three very different levels of Hebrew proficiency.
That evening we reviewed the words you had taught and were surprised that we easily remembered almost every word, your teaching method worked well!"

Mark Fox, Tel Aviv

Picture

Laura Chiesa, Tel Aviv, Israel / Italy

"Learning a language can seem like a chore, but when it's turned into a word discovery trail through a colourful and fascinating city – you realize it can be just the opposite. I discovered it's a lot easier to remember a new word when you encounter it on a graffiti-covered wall or on a shop sign in a bustling street, pause to discuss it (sometimes with lively input from passers-by) and hear from Guy where it came from, the other languages it might be related to and how it is used.

But Guy's tours are not just for people beginning to learn Hebrew. I've been in Israel for over 20 years yet on these tours have learnt new vocabulary as well as finally understanding words I was familiar with but had never been quite sure of their exact meaning or how to use them. So, I'd recommend a wander through Tel Aviv with Guy, not only for fresh Hebrew learners but also for those of us who've been here a while and lack the time or discipline to work independently on improving our Hebrew – and in fact for anyone who loves language and exploring cities."

Barbara, UK/ Tel Aviv, Israel

Nathalie, Antwerp, Belgium

"Taking Guy's graffiti tour is a great way to explore the bohemian neighborhood of Florentin, understand the graffiti which adorns a lot of the area's walls, and improve your Hebrew in the process."

"Learning Hebrew with Guy is not just about leaning the language. You also learn about Israel and Israelis, while roaming the streets of Tel Aviv. Guy, a real professional, gives you an opportunity to improve your grammar. It is different, pleasant and not stressful, but he will give you homework!"

David, Gibraltar

"Guy is great -- as a teacher, as a commentator, as a tour guide; the hour or so with him was a highlight of my time in Tel Aviv. I'd do it again in a flash. I had only one complaint: I wish it was longer. Im tirtzu...!"

Jon Drucker, Los Angeles, CA, USA

"Guy's 'Graffiti Tour' combined my interest in Street Art with my desire to improve my Ivrit. A very accommodating teacher with an instant rapport made this an exhilarating way to learn the Hebrew language. Guy's knowledge and enthusiasm was overwhelming. I wanted to book my next lesson immediately."

Nomy Danon, London, UK

"It was a pleasure and delight to meet Guy, a talented polyglot with a friendly and warm personality who made a walk round his neighbourhood a hugely enjoyable and painless way to learn new vocabulary and to gain an insight into life in contemporary Israel.
Hope to be able to repeat the experience and I have no hesitation in recommend this tour to all those with a desire to learn Hebrew and an interest in spending time with someone so obviously talented. Instead of being a chore he makes study fun. Thanks for a memorable experience."

"After recently moving to Tel Aviv I took The Florentin Graffiti Tour with Guy. His expertise on the most fascinating of nuances in Hebrew language, as well as the group's immersion into the language within the cosmopolitan chaos of the South Tel Aviv neighbourhood, gives the lesson that contextual boost, making it incredibly memorable and utterly pleasurable. I've yet to encounter such a creative yet completely practical approach to learning a language."

Adam Nuhi, Edinburgh, Scotland

Birte, Berlin, Germany / Tel Aviv, Israel

"The morning that I spent with Guy and Nomi in their Eat, Stray, Learn tour was one of the most enjoyable of my days in Israel and I have been here over 30 times. Guy is incredibly charming and warm and will speak to you in any language you choose although his preference is to teach you Hebrew. Nomi with her winning smile and knowledge of the shuk and the kitchen will tease your palate and want you coming back for more. Don't miss this dynamic duo."

Julie Shuer, Tel Aviv, Israel / Los Angeles, USA

"The Florentin Graffiti Tour was a stimulating and professional socio-cultural, artistic, literary and linguistic experience! What a way to learn Hebrew! *****".

"Thanks again for showing us around Tel aviv and Jaffa... What a special way to see the city. I think I would learn hebrew in no time with you! nothing better than experiencing the city streets and learning the language. I wish you continued success and next time we'll add cooking to the equation!"

Emily Whyte, Paris, France / USA

"Guy is a truly inspiring teacher who has given me the bug for Hebrew. I just need to find the button on my iPad so I can write in Hebrew. Beseder hooray, Jaky"

"Guy je mimořádně nadaný lingvista a skvělý učitel. Umí výborně vysvětlit logiku a strukturu hebrejštiny a pro budování slovní zásoby používá i různé novátorské metody, které jeho studenty zavedou do ulic Tel Avivu či izraelské kuchyně. S Guyem jsem studovala hebrejštinu jeden rok v Tel Avivu a nyní přes skype. Hebrejština s Guyem - vřele doporučuji."

Šárka, Prague, Czech Republic

"I've never had a more creative language teacher than Guy. His walking Hebrew lesson in the Florentine neighborhood, using graffiti from the streets of Tel Aviv, was fun and provided the kind of colloquial language instruction that one rarely finds. Anyone who wants to speak Hebrew like Israelis actually do, should take their lessons from him."

Rafi Frankel, California, USA

Catarina Raposo, Portugal / Tel Aviv, Israel

"Guy’s extensive knowledge, palpable enthusiasm and creative approach make learning Hebrew – even the most technical points of grammar – fun and accessible. I thoroughly enjoyed my first StreetWise graffiti walking tour, which included stops at the local doggy beauty parlor, gritty carpentry workshops and a nearly century-old synagogue, and look forward to participating in future excursions. HaDag Nachash and David Grossman have found their match for Shirat Hastiker 2.0."

Josh Straus, USA / Tel Aviv, Israel

Daniel Robles Llana, Madrid, Spain

"Guy's enthusiasm and spirit, combined with his granular knowledge of the language and local culture, makes a really unique learning experience. He has a way of helping us create a personal relationship to the language which just isn't replicated in any classroom. By walking through the streets of Tel-Aviv, seeing the art graffitied on the walls and smelling the spices of local markets, I not only felt I was learning Hebrew but forming a connection to this beautiful city. I'd recommend these lessons in a heartbeat."

O. Samson, Tel Aviv, Israel

Rocco Giansante, Milan, Italy / Jerusalem, Israel

"On a recent trip to Tel Aviv, our family of 7, ranging in age from 16 to 52, joined Guy on a 90-minute tour of Florentin, an old Tel Aviv neighborhood caught in a battle between the inexorable forces of tradition and gentrification.  With a special focus on the political, social, scatological, sexual, and other undefinable, avant garde graffiti that appears throughout the neighborhood, we were able to begin to understand the challenges involved in such a battle. There are synagogues and sex shops; trendy restaurants and heavy industry; wine bars and nightclubs, olive vendors and sandwich shops; art galleries and a place to bring your dog to get a bath.  And graffiti everywhere. Florentin is a place that few tourists see. Yet, in its own way, it is as interesting and significant as any place in Israel. And to see it with Guy, who lives in the neighborhood and knows every nook and cranny, is a way for a tourist to get an unadulterated view of the real Israel."

Lauren and David Silverman, Chicago, IL, USA

"Discovering Guy's Hebrew lessons has opened a whole new way of becoming comfortable with the language. Guy is an incredibly intuitive teacher. He will never leave you confused. His way is efficient, detailed, and will tie in all essential aspects of grammar, something not many traditional Ulpan studios do. Plus, learning Hebrew from the street will speed up absorbing the culture and becoming a true Israeli. Thank you Guy!"

Zhanna Bondar, Brooklyn, New York, USA

"It's been a long time since I studied in ulpan and I thought I knew what I needed to know in Hebrew. Yet Guy's StreetWise walking tour and Hebrew class was a fun way to learn "street talk" and at the same time to refresh my memory regarding grammar and verb basics. The tour was a great way of spending a Friday morning learning about nooks and crannies of Tel Aviv, the city we all love so much!
Thanks Guy!"

Carol Emold, American/Israeli

"Traditional ulpan never fit my learning style, nor did it feel holistic enough. I wanted to build not just a better understanding of the Hebrew language, but also of Israeli culture. Guy has made both accessible to me by fusing language with culture. From white board to newspaper to street art, Guy has the uncanny ability to break the language down into comprehensive parts while rooting his lessons in the living and breathing "white board" that is Israel."

Erin Kopelow, Canada / Tel Aviv, Israel

"Guy is a wonderful teacher who manages to seamlessly combine grammatical and conversational skills. We explored the roots of words and vocabulary families through fun and interactive activities that also let me improve my basic speaking skills. Guy is very open to teaching skills most important to the student, and manages to do so in a variety of useful and engaging methods. Whether it's conversation at a café, neighborhood tours, or working with Israeli TV, Guy finds ways to make his students use their Hebrew in ways that challenge and improve it."

Melanie Weiss, Portland, Maine, USA

"Guy is a great teacher who is a true linguist without losing the normal conversational aspects of a beginner. I enjoyed working with him greatly and found him to be patient, interesting and fun."

"Hebrew classes with Guy Sharett were one of the most fun and important things I did during my first trip to Israel."

Zach Paikin, Toronto, Canada

"As an impressively gifted linguist, Guy's teaching helps one not only to gradually master the language, but also to understand its structure and logic. This has a great value, especially for a European learning a Semitic language. Guy structures his lessons well, he includes grammar, reading, translations, and uses materials that at the same time contribute to broadening of understanding of Israeli culture and society. His approach is professional and engaging. I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to study with Guy."

Šárka Krčálová, Prague, Czech Republic

"I enjoyed my lessons with Guy a lot, he is a very chatty person, which for me was great because I wanted to improve my conversation skills. Even when I had come to a lesson unprepared, with no homework done and tired from work, he still (somehow!) managed to push me into talking in Hebrew for the lesson and work on grammar.
Guy takes a different approach from other teachers and Ulpan, because he uses the environment around him as the teaching material. This makes his lessons more relevant to modern life here in Tel Aviv, more interesting and enjoyable. The lessons in the café and walking the streets of Tel Aviv were very interesting."

Leon Schulman, Leeds, UK / Tel Aviv, Israel

"Guy's tours are a great way to get to know Tel Aviv, learn Hebrew and meet new people all at the same time. The tour through Florentine took us through parts of the city that I would never have gone to on my own. The graffiti tour is a great way to discover an authentic side of the city."

Tamara M., California, USA

"One of the best and innovative ways to learn hebrew. I really did enjoy hebrew lessons with Guy and it really improved my conversation skills... and I had a lot of fun."

Roger Farache, Paris, France

"I had the pleasure of studying with Guy Sharett in Bangkok preparing for modern Hebrew examinations as part of the admissions process for rabbinical school. He is a very effective and organized teacher and I should know since I was a modern languages teacher myself in a former life. Not to mention, it was really fun. If I were in Tel Aviv, instead of the US, I would look forward to his dynamic new concept in Hebrew teaching."

Rabbi Peggy de Prophetis, Dover, Delaware, USA

"I learnt with Guy in order to prepare for a University entrance exam in Hebrew and he was a wonderful teacher. Organised, patient and most importantly understood how I would benefit most from his lessons and tailored them specifically to my way of learning. And on top of that a really lovely guy who was a pleasure to spend time with. Highly recommended!"

Daniel Silverton, London, UK

"Forget about the 'usual teacher' who bores you with grammar rules and gives you tons of homework, and who checks if it's done. Guy is your best guide for full immersion in modern Hebrew language and Israeli trendy culture. This is by far the best way to get in connection with Israelis, beyond any word you may learn. I really enjoyed spending hours of improving my Hebrew with him."

Alex L., Paris, France

"I took private lessons with Guy and I was really happy about the results. In a very short amount of time he understood the right type of exercises I needed to do in order to pass a Hebrew test at the University. Doing so, he could organize the lessons in the most efficient way. His preparation and positive attitude helped me learning Hebrew better and faster. Highly recommended!"

Davide Schaumann, Milan, Italy / Haifa, Israel

Anouck Chazelas, Paris, France / Tel Aviv, Israel

"While recently in Israel on a two-week vacation, I participated in Guy's graffiti tour of Florentine. As someone always looking to improve my Hebrew, I appreciated Guy's positive and energetic attitude and strong interest in teaching. Not only did I learn several new Hebrew words, but I also was exposed to a neighborhood of Tel Aviv that most people do not get to experience. After the tour, I was surprised by how much more Hebrew graffiti I noticed in Tel Aviv during my daily travels. I would definitely suggest this class to anyone interested in expanding their Hebrew or Tel Aviv frame of reference. I would also highly recommend Guy as a private Hebrew tutor as I managed to fit in two very rewarding one-hour lessons while in Tel Aviv."

Ben Randolph, USA

Nora De Pas, Paris, France
